Three Years and Counting

Yesterday, Mike and I celebrated the completion of our third year of marriage. It's a little weird to think that it was 3 years ago already that we walked down the aisle, but then at times, it seems like we've actually been married longer than that!

It was nice that our anniversary fell on a Monday this year, since I have Monday afternoons off of work. Mike made sure to clear his schedule, and we had the whole afternoon together to celebrate. We were blessed by both of our parents sending a little cash so we could celebrate our day with whatever we wanted.

First we decided to go for a drive. We used to do this a lot more often, before the gas prices went so high! We like exploring and just driving and seeing new places we haven't seen before. While Iowa isn't nearly as exciting as some of our other travels, it's still a beautiful state, and yesterday was a beautiful day, so we took in all the scenery.

After that we stopped to play a rousing round of mini-golf. My family is pretty competetive with mini-golf, and Mike got a taste of that the first time he met my parents. At that time, Mike played a terrible round of mini-golf, coming in dead last. Then, after he officially joined the family, he suddenly became a mini-golf pro, often coming in among the top two. He did beat me yesterday. It was pretty neck and neck, but he came in on the last hole with a hole-in-one and I completely choked, getting a six on the last one! Oh well, we still had fun.

Here's a shot of the score card- Mike's the first row and I'm the second.

Mike after his hole-in-one:

After our game, we had worked up an appetite, so we went out to eat for some wonderful Mexican food, another of our favorites. We both enjoyed our meals of chicken enchiladas with rice and refried beans!!

After that we rented a movie. We ended up seeing Pan's Labyrinth. We didn't know a whole lot about it, but it looked good so we took it home. After we got home we realized that the movie was in Spanish, with an option of English subtitles. How did we both miss that? Anyway, while we both know Spanish, we are definitely not up to a full-length film in only Spanish, so we turned on the subtitles. Wow- what an INTENSE movie!!! It was good, but definitely gory in some parts, and the whole movie had us on edge. We decided it probably wouldn't be a good idea to check our blood pressures after that one!

All-in-all we had a fabulous day. We are happy to have made it this far and look forward to many more years together as husband and wife!!
