Capanna Report and Pictures!!

Sunday, February 18, 2007

We've now had three days of business at the new store. When we opened on Thursday, it happened to be one of the coldest (if not the coldest) days of the year- complete with record setting lows. Then on Friday evening we received the third snowfall of this week. So things were a little slower than we might have liked those two days, but in some ways that's a blessing, because it gives you time to work out some of the kinks and to take care of all the things you might have forgotten - like plates and forks!! :)

But yesterday was a much nicer day and also the busiest we've had so far, so we are encouraged. We also had postcard mailer go out to 7500 homes in Coralville and North Liberty announcing our Grand Opening on February 26th, so I'm sure that will bring in business. Mike decided to run a promotion on our Grand Opening day of free coffee for 6 months for the first 50 customers in the door that day. They'll all get a free 12 oz every week for 6 months. We have no idea whether this will go well or not, but we're going to make sure we are prepared, since the cards went out to 7500 people!

Overall, we are really happy with the way this store has come together. We've had so much help- my parents with painting and bringing the trust van to help us move stuff, the guys from church helping us move some really heavy equipment, Rachel Meyer for helping us with the framed coffee bags, all of our friends and family who have come to support us or just offered encouragement along the way. It's really been a blessing.

Now for the pictures- here are a few of my favorites, but you can check out more at our Google Pictures website. There's pictures from yesterday as well as some during the building process.
