It Has Passed!

Time for an update and we have great news to share-- Mike has passed the kidney stone!!! It was crazy huge and you would not believe that something like that could come out of the kidney. Now I understand all the pain! Mike has kept his sense of humor throughout this ordeal and has come up with various ways of describing it. First, it's his "baby" that he has finally birthed. Second, he came up with a loving nickname--"my pet rock" :) So we've been joking that we should throw a party when he passes it because so many people keep asking about it. Now that it's passed, we are serious about throwing a party. Mike's buying cigars to pass out, and hopefully soon will have our "Rock" theme party to celebrate! You have to laugh about these sorts of things or life can become very depressing :)

Also, in other news we found out the Brennan, our nephew, has glaucoma in one of his eyes. It's really rare in babies his age, so it is kind of scary. But, he came up to Iowa City this week to have surgery and got to visit his aunt Alicia and uncle Mike at the same time. He is doing ok so far. We are praying that God continues to heal his eye and that he would have full vision. Marc and Susie, his parents, are also ones who have a good sense of humor as evidenced by the picture Marc sent yesterday. I thought it was so funny that I had to post it. Plus, he is a really cute baby and I am a proud aunt!
